More About Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a key component in Traditional Chinese Medicine and one of the most commonly used medical procedures in the world. At OMBE, your acupuncturist will spend more than an hour reviewing your health concerns and medical history to develop a comprehensive treatment plan. Acupuncture treatments are designed to address the underlying physiological cause of each condition and are customized according to each client's unique health history. Adjunctive acupuncture therapies include electroacupuncture, acupressure, herbal medicine, cupping, gua sha, and tui na.

Recent research has shown acupuncture to be effective in the treatment of anxiety, carpal tunnel syndrome, degenerative disc disease, fibromyalgia, migraines, rotator cuff injuries, and smoking cessation. Research in the last five years has shown acupuncture to be effective for the treatment of several orthopedic conditions including low back pain and knee osteoarthritis. Acupuncture is also an important treatment modality for several women's health conditions and has been shown in a recent study to improve the rates of in vitro fertilization (IVF). Researchers have suggested that acupuncture may regulate the nervous system, aid the activity of endorphins and immune system cells or alter brain chemistry by changing the release of neurotransmitters and neurohormones.
