Longevity: Prevention is Key

From the desk of Dr. Jacqueline S. Rho, ND… Longevity: Prevention is Key

We all hope to live as long as we can.  Medical advancements have helped increase our life span.  We live longer and that is great, but what about our quality of life?  Will you be healthy and feeling strong during those extra years?

There are two general directions one will follow after age 30; an exponential decline in health or a slow and steady decline in health.  The difference between the two is lifestyle and prevention.  The Standard American Diet (SAD), lack of exercise, chronic stress, and persistent exposure to environmental toxins all contribute to that exponential decline in health.  Some factors we cannot fully control, which is why we need to have a healthy diet, exercise, and implement preventative therapies like cleansing.

A majority of illnesses that are prevalent in our world today are due to poor lifestyle choices.  When western medicine began, we were suffering from diseases caused by infections.  Improving hygiene and implementing public health regulations removed most of these illnesses.  We now suffer from something entirely different.  Heart disease is one of the several illnesses that can be preventable and is strongly associated with diet and lifestyle.  Cancer is another.  Some less obvious ones are osteoarthritis and osteoporosis.

I hope to live as long as I can and still be running about, enjoying what life brings. If you need help doing the same, I'd be happy to help. Schedule a free consultation and see how Naturopathic Medicine can get you on a healthier path.
