Why Prenatal Yoga?

From the desk of Vanessa Green, RYT...

Our prenatal classes are filling up fast! Is there something in the water or are moms-to-be just more aware of the benefits to yoga and their health? It could be a little bit of both so I thought it seemed like a good idea to explain the great benefits of a yoga practice during pregnancy. Hey, everyone is doing it, right?

Is prenatal yoga right for me?

Our prenatal yoga classes are designed for pregnant women who are both new to yoga and for those who have a continuing practice. Similar to starting any exercise routine during pregnancy, it's best to consult with your physician in case there are any reasons to not begin yoga right away or there are special circumstances around your pregnancy. Please always talk to your yoga instructor prior to taking a class if you have any concerns.

What are the classes like?

Students will learn poses and modifications for all stages of pregnancy, with a focus on increasing strength, flexibility, and tone. We have various props available to help with positioning, modifications and to ensure comfort throughout the class.

How will this translate to when I have my baby?

Women will bond with their babies through relaxation practice and develop breathing techniques that will be valuable throughout pregnancy, as well as during the labor and delivery process. Prenatal yoga is an excellent way to nourish and to develop a deeper trust in the body during pregnancy and beyond.

I teach hour-long prenatal  yoga classes every Thursday at 6:30pm and every Saturday at 10:30am. Hope to see you in the next class!
