What to expect from private sessions

From the desk of OMBE…

What should I expect during my first private session?

We recommend that you arrive early to complete any health history form (or you can complete one beforehand by downloading from our website here) and so that you can enjoy our tea bar. During your first session, your practitioner will review your health history, discuss any major health concerns as well as the reason for choosing the service, and your overall health goals before beginning any treatment or exercise program.

Reserve your private session online.

Consultation vs. Full Session

From the desk of OMBE…

Q: When should I book a 30-minute consult and when should I book an initial full session?

A: OMBE offers all of our new guests to book a free 30-minute consult with the exception of massage. This consult gives you the opportunity to meet the practitioner face-to-face, visit OMBE in person, and discuss any health concerns that you have prior to booking an appointment. During these sessions, no treatment is performed. For our exercise-based services, the practitioner may have you complete a basic series of exercises or poses but it is simply to assess how you move, observe injured areas, or determine your general fitness level. You should book this type of session if you are completely new to any service (i.e. you never have take a yoga class before or you have very specific health concerns (i.e. you were diagnosed with infertility and want to try acupuncture), or in general if you are not sure where to begin.

Both consults and initial sessions can be easily booked online. We hope to see you soon at OMBE!

Should I Tip?

MASSA Practitioners

We get this question a lot and mostly for massage therapy.  Here’s the simple answer.

Tips are always appreciated but never expected.

Our massage therapy team prides themselves on the beneficial work they provide for those with chronic pain or injuries. Often times, individuals need more frequent sessions to work through a condition or prevent further injury. While the cost can add up (and maybe your insurance company will reimburse you), they’d rather see you come in for the treatment you need than create unnecessary stress to scrounge up money for a tip and not get the treatment you need.

Insurance: To accept or not accept

We get this question A LOT! And we get it. When you make monthly contributions towards coverage, you want to put it to good use. Here is our policy at OMBE.

Our chiropractor currently accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield for all chiropractic services. Our practitioners generally spend 60-90 minutes with each of their clients.  Unfortunately, insurance carriers generally do not reimburse for that length of time for many of the modalities that the practitioners use. For that reason, we do not bill insurance directly.

However, we can provide you with a super bill (including CPT codes and billing codes) that you can submit directly to your insurance carrier. Several of our patients receive reimbursement this way. You can also consider using your FSA (Flexible Spending Account) and HSA (Health Spending Account) for many of our services.

Finally, some of our services such as acupuncture are considered a medical expense and are tax deductible at the end of the year. We can provide you with detailed receipts.

Always consult with your insurance carrier so that you know exactly what is and is not covered.

Clear Goals Create Clear Paths

From the desk of Nicole Trincia, CLC, LMT…

Ever wonder how some days you can jump out of bed energized and sail through your day with ease, while other days can feel like a drag and you never seem to get anything done?

I was contemplating this the other day as I was able to tackle various projects and errands quicker and more joyfully than I had anticipated.  I knew exactly what I wanted to accomplish and clearly defined each step along the way.  I had a plan. Granted, some of the errands were of relative low “importance” (i.e. stop by bagel shop, take subway to pick up glasses, stop by copier on way home).  However, they were all essential parts of my daily routine, personal care, and business.  I was able to complete my tasks swiftly and effortlessly.  I felt satisfied.

So, what if we could apply this simple strategy to more “complex” projects in our lives?  When you get up in the morning, you don’t typically struggle with getting ready (assuming you’ve rested enough, allotted enough time in your schedule, etc.)  You know what to do first (get in the shower), second (dry off), third (get dressed), and so on.  What if you approached your “bigger” tasks in a similar manner?

First, you would identify what it is you would like to accomplish as clearly as you would something as straight forward as “picking up your glasses”.  This may take some time to go through some reflective pre-work, but is essential to achieving your goal.  A well lit beacon in the night is much easier to find than one that sits dark or is blocked by clouds.  Start by visualizing your goal.  See it crystal clear and without question, like the route I took to pick up my glasses, knowing I will get them, bring them home, and wearing them already.  Now, zoom-in very small. What would be the very first step you could take in moving in the direction of manifesting your dream?  It might even be getting out a pad of paper and brainstorming the pieces, or as simple as taking 15 minutes to be very still and quiet as you look out the window or get in nature to “bathe” in how it would feel to already be living your dream.  It also sometimes helps to track backwards from your goal if you’re stuck on figuring out the next step.

Once you have your plan (a collection of chronological steps), take the first micro step in moving forward.  Keep it small and manageable.  Biting off more than you can chew at one time or pinning yourself against time or money are sure goal squelchers.  Move slowly, as is comfortable for you.  Let your body be your guide to your pace, not the clock or your to-do-list.  To-do-lists are effective maps to your road of progress, keep you energized and clear about what comes next.  They are meant to be modified and extended as your body dictates (not the other way around!) and as your plan evolves, unexpected changes undoubtedly occur, and new information is received.  When you’re ready for more, take the next step. Remember, each step (even just thinking briefly about your goal) is bringing you one step closer than you were to realizing your dream!

Still lacking clarity to what it is you crave or would like help manifesting your dream?  Join me and other smart and passionate change-makers in my upcoming FREE teleconference, Coaching to Clarity later this month.  Sign-up now for more details!
